I was wondering if anyone has tried the new gold fret wire from Lmi.I`m thinking about it for the next build.Any pics out there?I was kind of thinking it would give a vintage look on a Mad Rose fretboard.Any Thoughts? James W B |

It's called an EVO alloy made by Jescar at their rolling mill in Germany. I've never tried it but the folks at Jescar said it is about the same hardness as thier 18% nickel/silver, which is the best nickel/silver wire out there. To the best of my knowledge the only difference will be the color. |

Now, I would think that it's gold color all the way through yes? Otherwise dressing the frets would be useless. |

Yeah it`s gold all the way through.Kind of wondering how it would look? It`s listed on LMI`s site under new stuff. James W B |

James, I used it on my last twin builds. I like it. It looked pretty gold until I installed the gold Schaller tuners. The tuners are a couple of shades darker. ![]() ![]() Ron |

I have used it on two now and really like it. I found it easy to clip, snip and size and it pressed in nicely. I just placed an order yesterday for more. I Mike |

Thanks for sending the pics old man.I hate calling you that, but I`m getting up in years so I don`t mind.I think it looks great. The tuners being a little different shade don`t bother me.Now if I can only build a guitar as beatiful as yours I`ll be in good shape. Thanks Again James |

I think it looks really great. Maybe a nice combo would be those nickel/brass open back tuners. Seriously cool. |

Steve, I agree and really like the evo gold fretwire. On two I used this wire on I used the Grover Statite 18:1 Vintage Open backs (gold) and love the look. It would all look nice on that guitar you are working on!!! Mike |
